“I Thought About Joining The Military”: Aaron Rodgers’ Career Choices Almost Took Him Down A Strange Road Had He Chosen Not To Play Football

Failures often carve out good players to become great. Although Aaron Rodgers is a big name in the world of pro football, the veteran had humble beginnings, unlike other quarterbacks in the league. In his first shot, the Packers QB couldn’t achieve the milestone of getting into a high school and receiving enough exposure. However, it was his sheer talent and hard work that helped him make it to the top. But guess what, even before choosing football as a career option, Rodgers had other fantasies that actually didn’t go his way.
The Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers wanted to join the military before getting into his high school. In fact, he was not recruited into the high school. He wanted to play baseball and join the military. But his destiny took him to a community college in North California. Being one of the strongest players in the school, Rodgers aced at the quarterback position for his college.

“I was not really recruited in high school. In my senior year, I thought about playing baseball. I thought about joining the military but decided to go the junior college route because there were not a lot of kids. I wish I could have pretty good grades in high school,” he said in an interview.
When the host of the show asked Rodgers the reason for not getting recruited in high school, he said that his physique and overall body development were not impressive. He was not 6’5″ tall or weighed 240 pounds. But the quarterback believes the things that can’t be measured are the things that give people the most success.

During that time, Rodgers was just 18. Despite being the youngest member of the squad, he was able to lead his seniors inside the team. Well, the situation would have been much different if he had gone into the military.

Rodgers’ grandfather Edward Rodgers happens to be a war veteran. He had participated in the second world war and been a prisoner of war for more than nine months.

“I’ve always had an appreciation for the men and women who serve in our military,” Rodgers said before speaking about his grandfather, who served in the airforce. “His plane was shot down, and he was a prisoner of war for nine months,” Rodgers added. When the quarterback was 13, his grandfather passed away, and still regrets that he couldn’t intellectually communicate with him.

Over the past two decades, Rodgers was involved in various community works. He provided various amenities for the grieving families of war veterans. On the work front, Rodgers is gearing up to play in his 18th NFL season, and the season opener is on 12th September against the Minnesota Vikings.
