‘I Was Frustrated’: Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers Player Explains Why He Left Super Bowl Winning Franchise to Join New York Jets.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have had immense success since Tom Brady jumped ships a few years back. Since the GOAT’s entry, he could clinch a Super Bowl title and make Tampa a successful franchise. However, this does not imply that everyone in the franchise will be content. An ex-Bucs player explains why he left the Super Bowl-caliber club.

The club saw some visible frustration ever since Antonio Brown had a fallout with the then-HC Bruce Arians. The WR left no moment to just take off his jersey and just hop off the field. Despite losing a few athletes in the offseason, Tampa is all ready to take the battle on the turf.

Starting safety, Jordan Whitehead was among the top stars the Buccaneers lost this offseason. The former fourth-round selection out of Pitt voiced his dissatisfaction with his role in Tampa Bay’s defense, so it would seem that his exit was fully consensual. He signs a new deal with the Jets during his free agency period.

Jordan Whitehead spoke to Pro Football Network, mentioning, “I’m a team player, but I was frustrated. I would come out on third down, sometimes. I just felt like I was making enough plays, and I was being a leader on the team. It just felt like I should have been in the game… I’m a team player, and it’s a team-first mentality, but I definitely was frustrated. I think anybody would be.”

Amidst his frustration and anger in Tampa Bay, Whitehead cites Todd Bowles, the team’s defensive coordinator who later became head coach, for assisting him to establish a culture of good information exchange in the secondary.

In 2022, how does the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ defense look?

Whitehead was a member of a youthful safety spin that included Antoine Winfield Jr. and Mike Edwards. Both of which have made big performances in reportage in recent seasons. For now, the Bucs have picked up a pair of seasoned veterans to their safety corps as Winfield and Edwards. In order to compensate for Whitehead’s departure, they have incorporated Logan Ryan and Keanu Neal.

This is the best strategy for the Buccaneers to continue to be successful under Todd Bowles’ leadership. Most importantly, the defensive end aids in the victory of championships. On the defensive side of the ball, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are gradually getting young and impressionable. It should stump up off handsomely for many decades to come.
