As the Aaron Rodgers trade saga intensifies with the Green Bay Packers and the NY Jets failing to arrive at a mutually respectful compensation package, one former Super Bowl champion thinks that the sooner they decide, the better it is for the Packers.

It all comes down to what Woody Johnson’s Jets are willing to give up to acquire the services of the 39-year-old veteran quarterback. And former Denver Broncos Lombardi winner Vernon Davis thinks Aaron Rodgers is just the perfect addition to the NY locker room.

Aaron Rodgers has already stated in last week’s episode of The Pat McAfee Show that he wants to play and he wants to play for the New York Jets. And his contemplation is not why the deal hasn’t been signed, despite both the Packers and Rodgers being okay with parting ways.

I’m not holding anything up. It’s been compensation that the Packers are trying to get for me,” Rodgers said. And Vernon thinks the Jets shouldn’t hold back on pushing all the chips to the middle of the table, including their 13th first-round pick this year.

Vernon Davis was asked by Stephen A. Smith on ESPN’s First Take what he thought of the hindrances to Rodgers being traded to the jets.

I would give up everything I have. For Aaron Rodgers. Yeah, I would trade it all. Absolutely. Even at age 38. Aaron Rodgers is a special player. And what he brings to that locker room; he’s not just bringing his athleticism, but he’s bringing seniority. He’s gonna be a leader in that locker room. Yeah, he had a down year in 2022, but if we look at his overall career, the longevity he’s been able to have, and his numbers. I think that he’s gonna have a bounce-back year when he walks into that Jets locker room,” Davis replied.

Aaron Rodgers has allegedly presented a few of his own conditions

The Jets have already restructured 3 active player contracts to clear the necessary cap space to get A-Rod. However, according to ESPN’s Dianna Russini, Rodgers wants more. The 4x NFL MVP has allegedly handed the Jets a wish list of players he would like the franchise to look into.

This included three of his Packers teammates; Randall Cobb, Marcedes Lewis, and wide receiver Allen Lazard. The fourth name was Odell Beckham Jr. The Jets have already signed Lazard on a four-year $44 million deal. And they are already doing a lot more for Rodgers than the Packers, especially after the QB presented a similar wish-list after the season to Green Bay. However, they have decided to move on with fifth-year QB Jordan Love.

Rodgers denied the wish list allegations, making things even simpler for the Jets. And the NFL world can expect the two franchises to arrive at a decision shortly for Rodgers to reunite with Nathaniel Hackett in New York.
