Rob Gronkowski has always been an outspoken and fun-loving person. However, there have been several instances where the tight end remained dead serious. One such incident happened in 2013 when the then Patriots TE was asked about his counterpart, Aaron Hernandez. He nearly walked out of the interview after the interviewer pressed the same question three times in a row.

The Gronk-Hernandez duo was one of the most formidable partnerships in the NFL. Together they have scripted several records for the Bill Belichick-led side. Back in 2013, the entire Gronk family sat for an interview with CBS’ Don Dahler. As Hernandez’s case was a fresh matter during that time, Dahler asked Gronk to comment on the issue and his reaction to all the recent developments.

“Next question,” Gronkowski said as he pressed the question. His face suddenly dropped and became deadly serious. The interviewer then shifted his focus to his father, who said, “I’m not gonna go there.” Further, Gronk stood up from his seat, threatening to walk off from the interview.

While Gronk remained stoic, all his brothers tried to lower the heat with awkward laughs, but it was evident no one wished to comment on the matter.

Aaron Hernandez played for almost three seasons in the NFL. He played as a tight end for the New England Patriots. His career came to an abrupt end after he was arrested from his house. For the rest of his life, he spent in prison before giving up his life in 2017.

In 2021, speaking on a show, Gronkowski revealed that he was shocked when he heard about the incident for the first time. “Aaron was a great player,” Gronkowski said. “He was a great football player. But … I get questions like that all the time, about him and everything. And, with everything going on, I was definitely shaken when I heard that.” he added.

Moreover, he affirmed that the relationship on the field had nothing to do with Hernandez’s personal life. On the football field, everyone is light, and the entire focus is on the sport.
