Tannehill was candid while answering questions about his thoughts on mentoring his potential successor in Willis. Several reports were suggesting that the team didn’t involve Tannehill in discussions before drafting Willis.

He share his thoughts during the press conference stating, “I don’t think it’s my job to mentor him. If he learns from me along the way, that’s a great thing.” He believes that he and Willis are competing for the same spot on the team. Tannehill’s response, though the truth, has incurred the wrath of a section of Titans fans on social media.

While many fans consider QBs like Tannehill to be role models for their rookies, they seem to have no obligation to take such a stance.
