Joe Burrow became the number one NFL draft pick earlier this years. After a record-setting season with Louisiana State University in 2019, Cincinnati Bengals utilized drafted Burrow in the first round. The Iowa-born lad threw for 5,600+ yards and completed 60 TDs as LSU beat the Clemson Tigers to win the national championship.

Joe ‘Shotgun’ Burrow bagged the 2019 Heisman Trophy. He became the third consecutive Heisman Trophy winner after Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray to be drafted as the number one pick in the NFL.

The coronavirus pandemic led to all sorts of confusion surrounding Burrow’s arrival in Cincinnati. However, the star rookie began training with the team last month. In a short span of time, Burrow has already left an impression on his teammates, especially defensive end Sam Hubbard.

“He’s really impressed a lot of guys with how he’s walking around the building, his demeanor, how he’s carrying himself, how he feels the sense of urgency to be a leader of the offense. I think everyone’s been impressed with how he communicates, how he understands the offense. Because when the [first-team] offense goes out there, it’s a challenge. They’re running on all cylinders. That’s not something you’d expect to see with a rookie quarterback.

“That’s one of the most impressive things about him is that he hasn’t changed at all. He has the same mentality as he was as a third-string back-up at Ohio State as a freshman, still fighting every day to get on the field and get his name known. He takes that mentality and level-headedness of where he’s been to where he’s at now,” Hubbard said via Sports Illustrated.

Undoubtedly, all eyes will be on Burrow during the opening week. The 2019 National College Championship MVP winner is in line to turn the fortunes of the Bengals over the next four years. Although it is unfair to place such a massive responsibility on a rookie’s shoulders, Burrow has the skillset to live up to that challenge.
