It’s been a rough week for the Chiefs Kingdom. With the passing away of the Kansas City Chiefs‘ first lady and mother of CEO Clark Hunt, Norma Hunt, it’s been a time of mourning for the Red and White Army. However, the mood recovered on Monday as the players made their way to the White House to celebrate their Super Bowl LVII victory. President Joe Biden invited the champions after they missed out on the opportunity the last time. And the POTUS used this time to get his own personal memorabilia from the Chiefs and their star QB1, Patrick Mahomes.

The press correspondents present had a busy time as there were quite a few memorable moments from the Chiefs’ White House visit this week. First, Patrick Mahomes hilariously intercepted Travis Kelce from delivering one of his trademark speeches from the White House podium. And then, President Biden had a fanboy moment in front of the 2x Super Bowl MVP passer.

The Kansas City Chiefs have won three Lombardi trophies in their franchise history. However, this was the first time the winning roster made their way to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue for a White House coronation. Len Dawson only got a call from President Nixon in 1971, while the COVID-19 protocols marred the more recent Super Bowl LIV trip in 2020. That’s why this trip was just as special for the POTUS as it was for the Chiefs Kingdom.

As he is the 46th President of the United States of America, Patrick Mahomes and his tight end, Travis Kelce, presented the Chiefs No. 46 jersey to President Joe Biden. However, the POTUS had more gifts waiting for him. KC’s superstar signal-caller Mahomes also signed a personalized football and presented it to the head of the nation.

It’s just surreal to be here. To be able to be here and see that and see the history of this great nation that we have, it was really cool for me to just be here and be in the moment. I never imagined it being as cool as it was,” Mahomes said after the event, as per NFL media.

And it wasn’t just Mahomes who had the time of his life. Head Coach Andy Reid enjoyed the visit to the fullest. More than the heritage, though, Reid was all about the platter. “President Biden, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for inviting us to the White House for this celebration of a championship. From the tour that we had to the history here to the great food. Can’t forget the great food. We thank you. It has been 100 percent first class,” he said.

Pat Mahomes and Co have already made promises of a rerun to the championship this season. Surely, President Biden will find more memorabilia in store for him if that happens next year. Till then, the ‘How about them, Chiefs?’ cries will carry on.
