Indianapolis Colts Owner Opens Up On His Humble Journey From Construction Worker to Becoming One of the Richest Men In America

The Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay recently appeared on the Pat McAfee Show. He shared some insight related to the game and his personal life as well. McAfee himself played for the Colts in the NFL, which is why the conversation between them was good. The NFL fans would love to hear it.

Pat McAfee asked Jim Irsay about his nature, and how has he remained so humble despite being so rich. Pat said, Your position is something that everybody desires and is dreaming of and I think we’re learning about that even more now with a couple of teams going up for sale. At what point did you realize okay like I’m an NFL owner but I’m allowed to be a human as well, you know you play music, you collect things that you enjoy, you tell stories, I see when you’re out and about, and you literally hand out hundreds to everybody

Pat added, “You feel like you’re almost obligated to give back to people. At what point? Have you always been that way did something happen? What changed you to kind of live your life the way you do?

In response, Jim Irsay, the owner of the Indianapolis Colts talked about his upbringing in a tough situation. He said, “Well you know I just you know growing up in Chicago with you know parents from depression here in World War 2, you know I worked and I worked you know when it was summertime and I was going to football… My dad’s like you are going to work construction.”

Prior to becoming the Owner of the Colts and being a rich personal life wasn’t easy for Jim Irsay. During his appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, Jim claimed that his grandparents were immigrants from Poland. As a result, he didn’t have the privileges growing up that he has right now.

He further told about his time in Chicago and said, I mean I was like downtown Chicago doing demolition work, you know on these buildings with a fake union card, and uh a half an hour lunch break, and you know getting on the train at 5 am and you know just like in training camp when I started you know you had to be there at 6 am and you worked hard and you did all that and you kind of come from that thankfully that work ethic”

He added. “So, it’s something that to me you know is very I guess in other words first you know it’s just a normal life you know and I’ve had you know uploaded visa bill and you know house payments sitting there and stuff. So it kind of happened quickly because my dad never really um you know I mean it was funny at the time when he got sick and passed away you know we were fighting over a raise.”

Jim Irsay gave a brief explanation of his affection towards the working class. It was because he knows that feeling of working under pressure and not having the privileges. As a result, he has been a humble person throughout his life. Moreover, he gives away to the poor whenever he gets a chance to do it.
