It is not often that the NFL springs up on you and catches you off guard with some moving stories. A sport that is meant for the fiercest men on the planet barely leaves any space for emotion. However, a certain Indianapolis Colts player has caught NFL fans ‘in their feelings’.

Colts punter Rigoberto Sanchez started on Sunday against the Houston Texans in Week 15. What makes his appearance so special? Sanchez was undergoing major surgery less than 14 days ago.

He was diagnosed with a cancerous tumour several weeks ago. It was reported that Sanchez would miss the rest of the season. But the former Hamilton Union soccer star has battled all odds to return to fitness before the regular season can conclude.

As reported before, Sanchez underwent surgery two weeks ago. Medical reports indicated that he will need at least the rest of the season to recuperate and return to full fitness. But the 26-year old featured on Sunday in the Week 15 clash against the Houston Texans at the Lucas Oil Stadium.

The California-born athlete last played in the 26-45 loss to the Tennessee Titans. He was fully aware back then of his medical condition but insisted on playing in order to be there for his teammates. He truly pulled off a miraculous return this weekend and could very well be one of the comeback stories of the season.
