NFL Insider Claims San Francisco 49ers Working Towards Trent Williams Deal

The Kyle Shanahan-led San Francisco 49ers ended their 2020 NFL season campaign with a 6-10 record. They finished at the bottom of NFC West owing to a long list of injury struggles in 2020.
Coach Shanahan was without star DE Nick Bosa who suffered an ACL tear in Week 2 itself. QB Jimmy Garoppolo, RB Raheem Mostert, and TE George Kittle, all endured extended spells on the sidelines over the course of the season. In their absence, it was OT Trent Williams who stepped up and led the team from the frontlines.
But the veteran NFL star is due to enter NFL free agency in the coming weeks. He is being linked with a potential move to Super Bowl LIV champions Kansas City Chiefs in 2021.

He said, “Wondering if the Chiefs are going to be in play for Trent Williams because the Chiefs need help. At tackle, we’ll see a lot of teams could use help at left tackle. The San Francisco 49ers would like to retain their left tackle in Trent Williams.
“I’m told they’ve made strong offers for him so far in their negotiations and are hopeful that something will get done perhaps before the start of the league year.
“Williams wants to see his value. I mean, that was the point of avoiding the franchise tag. So it’s not going to be any hometown discount type scenario.

“Not that the 49ers are expecting that. They are trying their best to get this deal done, I am told so we’ll see if it winds up happening before he hits the free-agent market,” Garafolo said earlier today.
If GM John Lynch fails to agree on a big-money deal for the experienced tackle, a number of NFL teams will move in for the proven star. The Chiefs recently let go of two of their most experienced offensive linemen, Mitchell Schwartz and Eric Fisher.
