But things did not go as per plan as the Patriots finished third in the AFC East with a 7-9 record behind Miami Dolphins. Newton had a decent season with New England. He threw for 2,600+ yards with 8 passing TDs against 10 interceptions.

He said, “What’s going on in New England? Does this worry you that potentially everything in New England is completely broken going forward? They have no evaluation process… Their draft choice is not that great for a long time, their salary cap is over.

“In this particular business, you have to wonder. Bill Belichick, greatest coach of all time, greatest GM of all time as well…has he just completely lost it? Is he broken? Is there a problem in New England?” McAfee questioned on his The Pat McAfee Show.

The future surrounding Cam Newton seems bleak and clouded in mystery right now. There is no confirmation as to whether the 2015 NFL MVP will return to Foxborough in 2021.
