“It Doesn’t Matter How We Win”: Josh Allen Reflects on Narrow Victory After “Classless” Brawl

The Buffalo Bills had earned the favors of many and were considered to be the strong team going into Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins. However, in the wildcard round, they slumped in the second half and fought back to win a 34-31 game. The game was a closer contest than many people anticipated. As a result, Josh Allen, the starting quarterback, was unaffected even though the team won by a narrow margin.

It did not matter to the QB that they nearly lost the game. The fact that they survived and successfully advanced to their next competition was what mattered most to him.

When the 26-year-old lay on the turf of Highmark Stadium, he could do nothing but watch his rivals steal points. To add to the fuel was his classless” and “childish” act where Miami’s tackle, Christian Wilkins, pushed Allen who then pushed the defensive tackle back. This altercation led to an unnecessary scuffle and multiple penalties.

“One week seasons man that’s it. Gotta take it ‘1-and-0’, one game at a time,” Allen said. “Thought we did some good things today and I did some bad things today. Some stuff to clean up, some things to learn from, but we’ll grow from it. All that matters is surviving and advancing. It doesn’t matter how we win, it’s if we win and proud of our guys for playing the way they did.”

However, the fandom of the team will not agree to that. The fumble thrown by Allen was the worst start to a third quarter. This allowed the Dolphins to take over the game after Buffalo was in the lead. For the winning team, the mantra that they probably went by was to survive and advance. If only the Wyoming product had not thrown three interceptions, his rival would not have broken their streak of domination.
