The 29-year old running back was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals back in 2013. Bernard’s spell with the Bengals got off to a good note. Piling up the rushing yards, him and the Bengals enjoyed three winning seasons on the trot.

But since then, Bernard and the Bengals have failed to make the postseason. Thus joining the reigning Super Bowl champions is a something the running back is eagerly looking forward to.

Tom Brady a key factor to join Bucs

Talking to the media on Wednesday, Bernard said he could already feel the difference stepping into the Buccaneers facility.

“You can already feel the difference, just that atmosphere as soon as I walked in the building,” Bernard said.

“You can tell there’s an excitement still buzzing. Obviously, you guys won the Super Bowl last year, but you can kind of tell nobody’s kind of let their guard down. Everybody’s excited for that next run and I’m just excited to be a part of that.”

Bernard, was quick to note how the prospect of working with quarterback Tom Brady was too good to pass up on.

“Being able to work with Tom Brady, that in itself was something that was really, really tough for me to pass up on. Just to be able to build that relationship with him,” he said.

Talking about his decision to join the Tom Brady led Buccaneers, Bernard said a stellar recommendation from his friend and Brady former teammate James White was enough to convince him.

“I’ve obviously talked with him (White) when I was picking the team that I wanted to go to. He had only great things to say about Tom Brady and his work ethic and everybody knows that. For me, it was a no-brainer,” Bernard added.
