Aaron Rodgers has kept the NFL world waiting on his big decision. As speculation about his future in the league continues to abound, there’s been no revelation from the QB. When A-Rod declared that he would be embarking on a darkness retreat in pursuit of answers regarding his future, startled fans reluctantly took in the news. Perhaps they were hoping that his possible enlightenment could speed up the process of the QB’s decision-making. Unfortunately, that hasn’t been the case.
A-Rod’s future could either play out with him announcing his retirement, staying with the Packers, or heading to another franchise. Undoubtedly, the QB’s situation is one of the biggest stories this offseason. The Green Bay Packers made headlines after news of their eagerness to move ahead with backup QB Jordan Love came to light. Although those notions were refuted, there’s no doubt that the franchise would like to have some clarity on Rodgers’ decision. Reports indicate that the QB holds the upper hand when it comes to his contract with the team.
As the free agency period looms large, the Packers would perhaps like to set about planning for the future. But the wait for Rodgers’ decision has been long drawn. GM Brian Gutekunst had some thoughts on the matter. Here’s what he said.

Speaking at the NFL Scouting Combine, the GM said, “Obviously, free agency is coming up here, and that’s an important part of what we’re doing, so it would be nice to have some answers before that, but until we have any conversations, we’re still in a good spot.” It seems like the NFL world and the Packers management are standing hand in hand, in the wait for A-Rod’s announcement.

Gutekunst was asked if the Packers wanted to continue with Rogers. The GM responded by saying that further conversation would lead them to decide if he was the right fit. That’s not a ‘no’ by any means. But at the same time, it’s not a concrete response.

A lot of things are up in the air when it comes to A-Rod. The QB isn’t known for making decisions on a whim. After spending his entire career at Green Bay, the 4x MVP is perhaps taking his time to evaluate the best option. While that is understandable from the QB’s perspective, the Packers don’t have all the time in the world. Decisions have to be made and plans have to be drawn. However, Rodgers doesn’t seem to be deterred by the speculation and no amount of pushing will make him budge until he is ready.
