Tom Brady is arguably the greatest quarterback in the history of the NFL. And being the best means the sport takes priority over everything else. And that became the cause of his divorce from supermodel Gisele Bündchen. Brady admitted to his failure in handling the priorities during the marriage struggles.

The legendary QB also revealed what keeps him going despite his age.

Failure to handle priorities

Tom Brady spoke about the emotional struggles he faced during his divorce from Gisele Bündchen on his ‘Let’s Go’ podcast. In the podcast, he talked about how when one gets older, the challenges get bigger due to distractions from other parts of life.“And not distracted in a bad way, but there’s priorities that take over,” Brady said. “So, I’ve tried my best over the years to maintain what’s important to me. And I’ve been very fortunate to play a sport that I love,” Brady added.

He then went on to address a burning question. Why does he keep on playing? What keeps him going despite his age? “Why do I play? Because the competition is great. Obviously, it’s a great thrill and joy to go out there and play, but you’re just, you’re a part of something that’s way bigger than yourself and there’s something to be said for that,” the seven-time Super Bowl champion said.

Brady is 45 years old and is by far the oldest player in the league. But he is still among the top QBs in the league this season despite the struggles of his team. And also, amid his marriage struggles.

Marriage struggles for Tom Brady

Tom Brady and his ex-wife, Gisele Bündchen, went through a highly publicized divorce back in October. Bündchen wanted Brady to hang up his boots and spend time with his family. The NFL icon retired from professional football after the 2021 season, but the retirement didn’t last long. He came back out of it just over a month later to try to lift the Vince Lombardi trophy for the second time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He already has done it a total of seven times, out of which six were with the New England Patriots.

Bündchen wasn’t happy with that, as Brady was prioritizing the game over his children. The couple has two children, 12-year-old Benjamin and 10-year-old Vivian. Also, they raised Brady’s oldest son, Jack, together. The couple finalized their divorce less than a month after the initial reports. The QB is now fully focused on taking his team to the playoffs this season. And maybe he can get himself a Super Bowl ring in the process.
