It’s been a lengthy seven years since the Denver Broncos claimed a Super Bowl victory. During that time, Peyton Manning provided crucial support, helping the team establish itself as an NFL powerhouse. However, since Manning’s departure, the Broncos have been striving to recapture the Lombardi Trophy. With the NFL season now in full swing, QB Russell Wilson and his team are determined to redeem themselves after last season’s underwhelming performance.

Unfortunately, injuries have cast a shadow over the Broncos, much like the rest of the NFL teams this season opener. Amidst a roster dotted with injury concerns, the news of star receiver Jerry Jeudy and other players’ injuries threatens to derail the Orange Crush’s thirst for revenge.

Will Jerry Jeudy play?

In the final week of August, wide receiver Jerry Jeudy was carted off the practice field due to a right hamstring injury. This injury occurred during a team drill involving an end-around play in a joint practice session with the Los Angeles Rams. Consequently, he missed several weeks of practice.

Last week, Jerry Jeudy’s participation in practice was limited for all three days. In the lead-up to Week 2’s game against the Washington Commanders, he continued to have limited participation. After Wednesday’s practice, Coach Sean Payton revealed that Jeudy was on the verge of playing in Week 1, but the team exercised caution.

This cautious approach bodes well for Jeudy’s chances of playing in the upcoming game. However, there was another injury report regarding tight end Greg Dulcich, who did not participate in the warmups after leaving Sunday’s game with a hamstring injury. Notably, Dulcich was the only player on the Orange team’s active roster who did not practice on Wednesday. Given the current circumstances, Coach Sean Payton remains optimistic about his team’s prospects.

Coach Sean Payton spoke on hamstring injuries

Head coach Sean Payton offered his insights on Greg Dulcich’s hamstring injury, stating, “I mean, I think each one is different. Shoot, we’re three days removed from [the injury]. He felt better today. We treat it… going through the correct rehab, all the things necessary.”It’s worth noting that Jerry Jeudy also experienced a hamstring injury during the 2022 OTAs, which sidelined him until training camp.

Unfortunately, he re-aggravated the same hamstring during camp, resulting in him missing the final three weeks of preseason practice and an additional five regular-season weeks. Regarding Jeudy, Coach Payton remarked, “He was a game-day decision. Hamstrings are tricky, though, [with] the idea of possibly getting set back two or three more weeks, but he was close. We actually had a workout pregame to go through it and made our decision off that.

In addition to the two, defensive tackle D.J. Jones, outside linebacker Frank Clark, and cornerback Riley Moss are also in the process of recovering from their injuries. The upcoming game against the Commanders will be a fascinating test for Payton’s Broncos in the wake of their narrow defeat to the Raiders with 16-17. And will Jerry Jeudy be able to make it to the game?
