Jerry Jones is arguably the most popular owner of the NFL. He built a legacy in Dallas, and due to it, he is well respected in the sports community. Buying the Cowboys wasn’t easy for Jones as he faced a lot of criticism for it.

Jerry Jones bought the franchise in 1989 for $160 million. Back then, it was a lot of money, and people claimed that he had overpaid for it. When the Cowboys signed quarterback Dak Prescott for a 4-year $150 million deal, a similar question was raised for Jones. He compared Prescott’s contract extension with the situation when he bought the Dallas Cowboys.

Talking about the situation, Jones said, “The truth is most anything that I’ve ever been involved in that ended up being special. I overpaid for, every time, to the end. Anytime I’ve tried to get a bargain, I got just that. It was a bargain in a lot of ways and not up to standard.”
