This move comes as a big surprise because of Saturday’s underwhelming resume. Saturday’s lack of coaching experience at a college or league level. The bare minimum of what a head coach would need points you in the direction of why this move comes as a surprise.
Aside from the lack of credentials, Irsay’s faith on Saturday, alongside the fact that they had approached no one else regarding the job, is a lot to take in.

Jim Irsay has been very verbose
Irsay believes in Saturday’s abilities and knows he is capable of taking on the role because of his experience as a player. Although, it would be sensible to offer data or logical reasons that back up his reasoning with regard to the move. However, Irsay instead pieced together a web of metaphors and sentiments.

Pushing the boundaries of absurdity, Irsay made another bizarre comparison. A former player with no coaching experience coming in to lead a team is rare, but believable. Irsay went a couple of steps beyond and made a comparison with one of the league’s most successful coaches, Don Shula.

After suffering a humiliating 26-3 defeat against the New England Patriots, the Colts will be looking forward to breaking their 3-game losing streak.
Putting aside the unconventional nature of this decision aside, Colts fans will hope that Irsay’s intuition plays in their favor. They will aim to improve their current 3-5-1 when they take on the Las Vegas Raiders.
