Jimmy Garoppolo suffered a calf injury after the first half of his game against the Seattle Seahawks bringing in Trey Lance for the rest of the play. However, because of the same injury, Jimmy Garoppolo has missed his practice for two days straight.

This is a significant sign for Trey Lance to be pushed as the starting quarterback for their Sunday night matchup against the unbeaten Arizona Cardinals. Trey Lance has his opportunity to help the Niners snap out of their two-game losing streak and break the Cardinals’ four-game winning streak.

Jimmy Garoppolo has been dealing with his right leg calf injury, comprising a contusion and muscle strain. On being asked if he would be all clear by Sunday, he replied he would not be 100 percent. He would have to battle through the pain and discomfort.

All trends point to Trey Lance being the starting quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers for the first time. This is a now or never kind of situation for Lance as he could make or break his reputation as an impactful young quarterback.

However, along with Garoppolo, tight end George Kittle was also absent from practice Thursday with a calf injury. And defensive linemen Arik Armstead (adductor), Javon Kinlaw (knee) and Samson Ebukam (hamstring) were working with the team’s strength and conditioning staff, while the team went through pre-practice stretching.
