The Arizona Cardinals have reasons to look forward to in 2021. The side which saw its playoff berth slip from their fingers by losing their last two ties saw them finish 2020 with an 9-8 record.

There were multiple driving forces behind the Cardinals’ success. Quarterback Kyler Murray got into his groove and the side’s trade for star wideout DeAndre Hopkins paid off.

But one key metric that people forget to consider is how good the side’s defense was. In terms of total defense, the side ranked 13th overall in the NFL.

And the belief is that the Cardinals defense will only get better in 2021 thanks to the addition of five-time All-Pro defensive end J.J. Watt.

While Watt’s last All-Pro season was back in 2018, he will be a key weapon for the Cardinals defense. And now it looks like he can’t wait to get back to the grind.

Talking to ESPN as per PFT, Watt was asked for his inputs regarding the Arizona Cardinals’ defense.

“And I can’t wait to do it. I love it. I’m here to lead. I’m here to lead with my words, I’m here to lead with my actions. But most importantly, I’m here to lead on the field. I’m here to go out there and dominate on the football field, and try and elevate this team to new levels,” she said.

The main remain focus for Watt continues to be the Super Bowl. And that’s something that the Cardinals are yet to get their hands on as well.

“I love the game, and there’s one thing that I don’t have,” Watt said. “And I want to get that thing.”
