The 2023 NFL offseason was an interesting one. Especially for the Baltimore Ravens. The team had gone on to put the non-exclusive franchise tag on their 2019 MVP QB Lamar Jackson, who has been with the Ravens since being drafted in 2019. He has been an asset for the Ravens, and the uncertainty surrounding his contract situation was certainly a difficult time for the whole franchise.

But things ended on a good note, as both Lamar Jackson and the Ravens were able to come to an agreement. This led to the QB signing a five-year $260 million contract extension,  which overtook Jalen Hurts’ $255 million deal with the Philadelphia Eagles a few days prior. Now, Ravens HC has come forward with an interesting story linked to the time when Jackson announced his agreement in the contract negotiations.

To this, Harbaugh replied by stating that he “was in the closet in the morning”, getting dressed for his day at around 5:30ish. It was just a few days before the 2023 NFL Draft. Harbaugh said, “And  Eric, he’s normally more of a late night guy and all of a sudden I hear, ‘Harps, you in there?’ And its Eric’s voice and I’m like oh man this is either really good or really bad.”

Lamar Jackson trying different things in 2023

Jackson has always been known to be a dual-threat QB. He possesses great rushing skills, which have always been a nuisance for defenses in the league. Now, with the addition of receivers like OBJ and also Zay Flowers from the 2023 Draft, Jackson believes that the real strength of the roster will lie in playing a more pass-oriented game. So this season, we might see the Ravens calling more pass-oriented strategies than what we have witnessed before.

They also have a new offensive coordinator in the form of Todd Monken, who signed back in February. With a new OC and new WRs for their QB, fans can expect new never-before-seen plays from their team. But the question that remains is, will it lead to them having a Super Bowl-worthy season? With Jackson and OBJ in the mix for the Ravens, do you think their offense will be one to look out for in the 2023 season? Let us know in the comments below.
