Will Ferrell is a well-known name throughout Hollywood. The 55-year-old actor has starred in many films throughout the years, from the likes of ‘The Other Guys’ to ‘Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby’. Apart from his movie career, Ferrell is also the co-owner of the MLS team Los Angeles FC. Now, the 55-year-old Movie star is set to play the role of one of the NFL’s most decorated coaches of all time, John Madden.
According to an article by ‘Hollywoodreporters’, Will Ferrell is to play the role of the legendary football coach, who holds the highest winning percentage of 75.9 percent for an NFL coach with an experience of around ten years. The film, directed by five-time Oscar nominee David O. Russell, will focus on how John Madden moved on from his coaching career after winning the Super Bowl with Las Vegas Raiders. It showcases the friendship between him and the late Raiders owner Al Davis, and how he became a famous figure in the world of broadcasting as well. The NFL will definitely look forward to this feature film, as it talks about one of the most influential coaches in the league.

The news of Madden’s feature film comes months after the NFL announced another big news, which talks about taking steps in its journey to Hollywood.

NFL goes Hollywood
Last year, the NFL announced that it is partnering up with ‘Skydance Media’ in a joint venture. The venture is to further branch out the league into the world of entertainment. Both NFL Films and Skydance Media, the producer of the hit Tom Cruise movie ‘Top Gun: Maverick’, are making substantial investments to help in the production of sports media content across genres, both scripted and unscripted.
According to NFL chief media and business officer Brian Rolapp, “Combining the unscripted expertise and storytelling of NFL Films with Skydance’s leadership position in TV, film, animation, and other areas will create the leading sports content studio in the world.”
