The Green Bay Packers are making headlines after a very interesting decision. The team is gearing up for a season without 4X MVP QB Aaron Rodgers for the first time in 17 seasons. And now, messiah Jordan Love carries the responsibility of taking over the legacy in Green Bay as the new generation of QB talent. After spending three seasons as the backup to Aaron Rodgers on the team, it is time for this 24-year-old to take center stage with the confidence his teammates have in him.

But most recently, the focus of fans shifted to a shocking decision taken by the team. And this decision involves the Packers cutting out one of their players, hours after celebrating a very special occasion for this player on social media. 

Jonathan Garvin gets a shocking surprise on his birthday

24-year-old LB Jonathan Garvin has been with the team since being drafted in 2020. In three seasons, the outside LB has played in 38 games for the Packers, with almost 673 defensive snaps. Jonathan Garvin was on the final year of his four-year $3.4 million rookie contract. And as he celebrated turning 24 on Friday, the team announced a shocking decision regarding this young outside LB.

On the 28th of July, the team celebrated the birthday of Jonathan Garvin on social media. The team shared a message on social media wishing the 24-year-old a happy birthday, along with a smiling photo of him in a Packers uniform. But just a few hours after this celebration, HC Matt LaFleur announced that they have released the young outside LB from the team. Jonathan Garvin was one of the three players, including Jaire Alexander and Rasul Douglas, to miss out on the majority of the OTAS, and even a portion of the minicamp.

And now, this decision to remove Garvin from the team on the day of his birthday has led to fans expressing their astonishment on social media.

Fans left shocked after the team’s decision

Fans took to social media to share their varying perspective on the events that transpired for Jonathan Garvin. Some fans were criticizing the Packers for being insensitive.
