A new-generation QB is settling down to be the starter for Green Bay Packers. After putting their trust and efforts into Aaron Rodgers for the past 17 seasons, a new dawn of light is slowly approaching to shine at Lambeau Field. With Rodgers now gone to the New York Jets, Jordan Love finally gets his time to shine bright in the limelight as QB1. Rather than picking up his fifth-year option, the Packers recently agreed to a new 1 year $22.5 million contract extension with the QB, with $13.5 million in guaranteed money.

So what was it like for Jordan Love behind 4X MVP Aaron Rodgers at Green Bay? Did he ever expect to have this opportunity he has now in front of him as the QB of the future?

During a recent interview with the press in Green Bay as the new QB1, Love talked about his time under mentor and former QB Aaron Rodgers. In fact, Jordan Love reveals the ‘difficult time’ behind A-Rod’s shadows ever since being drafted. According to an article by Bill Huber, Love reportedly admitted that he did not know what his future will look like after Rodgers signed a three-year contract last March with the Packers.

Even if he wanted ‘to be the guy’, Love did not have control over the decision. Rather than opting for a trade or making a fuss about the situation, the young QB decided to develop himself behind A-Rod. And this development led to the Packers putting their faith in the 24-year-old QB today.

During the press meet, Love stated, “And I think I sat back, thought to myself and just came back with the approach, like, ‘Let’s just go ball out any opportunity I get. I’m going to get preseason and who knows what happens after that, so just grow and try and become the best version of myself. I can’t really control what happens after that, so let it play out.’”

Will the young QB build a legacy like Rodgers and Brett Favre?

After spending three seasons as a backup to Rodgers, Jordan Love now has the platform to showcase his talents on the field. He might have played only 10 games with one start in three seasons, but the Packers are confident in his work ethic and the way he took the first-team reps on the practice field when Rodgers was out with a broken thumb.

He said, “The practice reps helped me build the foundation of how I want to approach it in a game.” With the exit of Rodgers, the team now finds itself with young players surrounding Love on the field. He needs to find that sweet spot of the Matt LaFleur offense along with building chemistry with the young roster.
