Dallas Cowboys owner and GM Jerry Jones might be spiraling down a deep hole of his own making. Jones was recently seen slipping up and discussing the franchise’s plans to move out of making dangerous picks. His comments garnered a strong response from NFL HOFer turned analyst, Shannon Sharpe. Sharpe has provided continuous critique on the functioning of the Cowboys. Needless to say that culture is set from the top, and the buck stops at Jerry Jones.

In a recent episode of sports talk show Undisputed, Sharpe goes off on Jones and how he contradicts himself every single time. He discusses the subject with co-analyst Skip Bayless while stating, “Skip at this point in time you have got to agree that Jerry has to just stop talking. Cause Jerry don’t make any sense. You hear me Skip…he really doesn’t. He was talking the other day and saying we really don’t take guys with red flags as much as we used to. And the first two guys he took last year had red flags.

The former Broncos TE believes Jones will not mend his ways despite announcing a change in his approach to running the Cowboys.

He also further clamps down on Jones by bringing up his mishandling of OLB Randy Gregory’s contract negotiations. Sharpe seems to be echoing the feeling of certain sections of the Cowboys fan base who will be hoping for an exciting time during the 2022 NFL Draft.

Sharpe makes a valid point while discussing his statements claiming that Jones has rarely traded up during NFL Drafts. He notes that while he understands the Cowboys’ GM’s love for the Draft, he is known for trading down and accumulating draft picks. However, Jones believes that this iteration of the Dallas Cowboys can get to the same talent level as last season, despite losing out on some major players.
