Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid believes that the reigning Super Bowl champions could do better. According to Reid, Chiefs has a lot of room for improvement. Reid’s remarks come after the team’s virtual off-season program. Heading into the 2020 season, coach Andy is urging his players to challenge themselves for getting even better than their previous run.

“Even though we’re doing this thing virtually, it starts now. There’s no time to waste” Andy Reid said, through the team’s website. “We’re not going to just go, ‘OK, we have everybody coming back and we’ll just run the same plays.’ No, we’re going to keep growing. I don’t think we came near to what we could be last year.”

Andy Reid started his tenure with the Chiefs in the year 2013. On his very first game, he led the team to a 28-2 victory against Jacksonville Jaguars. He ended his debut year with a commendable 11-5 record, with a start of 9-0. In 2014, however, he was only able to finish with a 9-7 record. Subsequently, failing to qualify for the playoffs. Reid’s career was hanging in the balance when the Chiefs started the 2015 season with a 1-5. However, they pulled off an emphatic return by winning every single one of their remaining games. In the same year, under Reid’s leadership, Chiefs won their first playoff game since 1994. Needless to say, if there’s anyone who grew progressively, it would be Reid. Hence, it isn’t surprising to see the 62-year-old urging his team to do better.

Kansas City Chiefs’ 2019 Season

Going into the 2019 season, Chiefs were determined to finally end the drought and bring back the Super Bowl. They ended up recording 12-4 in the league to win the AFC West consecutively for the fourth time. Optimistic Reid and team made their appearance in the Super Bowl LIV. After beating the San Francisco 49ers, Chiefs finally ended their 50-year-old drought to win the Super Bowl LIV. This was Reid’s first Super Bowl as a coach. The jubilant coach has a record of 77-35 till now with the Chiefs. With a win percentage of 68.8%, it seems as if Reid is determined to improve it in the next season. That being said, Kansas City Chiefs had a triumphant 2019 season.

Chiefs’ 2020 Off-Season

In the wake of the Coronavirus outbreak, the off-season was shifted to a virtual place. After retaining 20 of their 22 starters, they would then go on to acquire 18 undrafted free agents. Reid appreciated the General Manager, Brett Veach for pulling all stops to retain them.

The 21-year-old running back, Clyde Edwards-Helaire was their first-round pick. The team is banking heavily on Clyde. Reid has already drawn resemblance between Clyde and the NFL legend, Brian Westbrook. Needless to say, 2020 season does look optimistic for Chiefs. Reid is reportedly working round the clock, holding 2-hour meetings with the players. He has already planned for a 3-day virtual rookie camp. If players are to adhere to their coach’s advice, they surely can win the Super Bowl again!
