Kansas City Chiefs Look To Balance Tyreek Hill Departure With Marquez Valdes-Scantling’s $30 Million Signing

Tyreek Hill’s departure from the Chiefs was one of the most shocking news on Wednesday. Just a day after his trade, former Green Bay Packers receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling was acquired by the Chiefs on a 3-year deal.

Tyreek Hill was at the center of attraction after bagging $120 million from the Dolphins. Fans were curious to know how the Chiefs would make up for the loss, and they got a hold of another speedster for a decent deal in the trade market.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling- a sizzling athlete

For the Wide receivers to shine in this royal league of football, all that needs is the pace with which they can swoop into the opponent’s territory. And for the record, Tyreek Hill was the best in the game.

Thus to make up for the conceded ones, Chiefs signed Scantling on a three-year, $30 million deal. The contract assures the star $18 million over the first two years and can make up to $36 million if he hits all the incentives in the contract.

Scantling was drafted by the Packers in 2018, as a fifth-round pick for the team. Since then, he has made 123 receptions for 2,153 yards and 13 touchdowns in his entire 59 career games. He became the only player in the league to rank in the top 10 in yards for the past three seasons.

The 27-year-old veteran created history by making 25-plus receptions at an average of 15-plus yards per catch in the four NFL seasons for the Packers. All these stats makes Scantling a must-go choice for the clubs to recruit him.

Chiefs trying to compensate for Tyreek Hill

This offseason witnessed many dramatic dealings, amongst which the Tyreek Hill trade was one of the most eye-catching ones. A whopping $120 million deal for four years by the Miami Dolphins to the Cheetah of the NFL.

This contract made him the most expensive WR in the history of the game. After serving as a strong wideout for the Chiefs and guiding the team for a Super Bowl Victory in 2020, Hill decided to part ways with the side.

The Chiefs still hold five draft picks they received in exchange for Hill. They can utilize it to recruit more potential WR to strengthen the spot. Even though Scantling’s recruitment to some extent is compensation for Hill, his records have yet to justify the intentions. With that said, he played exceptionally in the previous season. He caught 33 passes for 690 yards and made six touchdowns for the team.

Today, he has embarked upon a new journey, and Scantling will try to make an impact as a wideout helping his new QB Mahomes chase for a second Super Bowl title.
