Andy Reid’s Kansas City Chiefs made their way to Super Bowl LV with a strong display against Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship game two weeks ago. They started Sunday night’s game at the Raymond James Stadium as firm favorites to defend their Super Bowl title. But Tom Brady-led Tampa Bay Buccaneers had different plans.
The 43-year old made his way to his 7th Super Bowl ring, as the home team sealed a momentous 9-31 win in Tampa Bay. This was the first time that the Chiefs failed to score a single touchdown in a playoff game since 2016. Buccaneers DC Todd Bowles deserves credit for getting his gameplan right and stopping the like likes of Patrick Mahomes, Tyreek Hill, and Travis Kelce.

Nick Wright heaps praise on Bucs defense after Epic Super Bowl LV Display
"Patrick Mahomes ran 497 yards on scrambles & sacks. And the Bucs did it without blitzing. … I don't think anybody saw total & thorough domination like this. I don't think anybody saw the Chiefs scoring 0 TDs." — @getnickwright pic.twitter.com/XdAUr7RCy9

On a rare occasion, HC Andy Reid and his boys had a poor day at the office on Sunday night. It couldn’t have come on a bigger stage as Super Bowl viewers across the globe watched in astonishment. “I don’t think anybody saw total and thorough domination like this. I don’t think anybody saw the chief scoring zero touchdowns coming….but I understand the Bucs have an excellent front. But they were getting there. People were whipping.”

“They were getting there immediately consistently. And that’s why Mahomes was running for his life. The whole game,” Wright said earlier today.
Chiefs fans across the globe will know that last night was a ‘one-off’ instance. They will hope that their favorite stars will bounce back when the season starts in 270 days. Until then, it’s back to the drawing board for coach Reid and the rest of the Chiefs players.
