Another week, another win for defending champions Kansas City Chiefs. The LIV Super Bowl winners registered a comfortable 20-34 win over the Ravens on Monday night. Once again, it was 25-year-old quarterback Patrick Mahomes who grabbed headlines following his stunning display.
The 2018 NFL MVP put up a ‘quarterback masterclass’ at the M&T Bank Stadium. He threw for 385 yards and completed five passing TDs as the Chiefs maintained their unbeaten start to the 2020 NFL season.
34-year-old DE Calais Campbell had special praise reserved for his team’s quarterback. The seasoned NFL player singled out Patrick Mahomes as the standout performer in the win against the Ravens.
“I mean, you know, they don’t give that guy a half a billion dollars for no reason. He’s an incredible talent and he just made play after play,” Campbell said after Monday night’s win.
Mahomes completely outshone reigning NFL MVP Lamar Jackson in this crunch tie. He completed 31 of his 42 attempted passes as the Chiefs registered a comfortable win against John Harbaugh’s Baltimore Ravens.
Here’s what six-time Super Bowl-winning coach, Bill Belichick, said about Mahomes ahead of Sunday’s clash at the Arrowhead Stadium.
“I mean they’re really good. It starts with an MVP quarterback and great offensive coordinator and head coach. Andy [Reid] does a tremendous job putting pressure on the defense.
“They’ve got a lot of good skill players, a lot of experienced players. I think the backs are a big weapon for them, both in the running game and in the passing game.”
“So, yeah, there’s a lot to stop. We’re just going to have to play good team defense and there’s no one guy you can key on, there’s no one guy that’s going to stop this offense. We’re going to have to play well collectively as a team,” Belichick said via CBSSports.
The Chiefs are slated to take on the Cam Newton’s new-look New England outfit in Week Four. They remain unbeaten after four games and will look to build on that record moving forward.
