When the road is hard, the win feels sweeter. As Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce said after winning the world championship, “you gotta fight to earn the right to party.” And Patrick Mahomes put up a fight to remember. Justifiably, he partied just that hard afterward.

Chiefs linebacker Willie Gay spoke about his quarterback’s inebriated state at the Union Road Super Bowl LVII victory parade. Gay didn’t see anything wrong with Patrick’s celebrations. However, he also believes that Mahomes won’t be able to fully recall the events of the day.

Patrick Mahomes had the time of his life

The Chiefs QB battled through a high ankle sprain since the divisional round. And after a thrilling 38-35 win over the Philadelphia Eagles and the second Lombardi in four years, Patrick Mahomes added his second Super Bowl MVP to his NFL MVP award this year. He became the first to do so since Kurt Warner in 1999. And after all this, the NFL world could have been slightly childish to reprimand Mahomes for celebrating.

Pat drank over 20 beers and almost fell off the bus at one time. He also left the Super Bowl trophy with a fan after clicking a picture with him. However, it was later revealed to be a fan replica of the Lombardi as the real one was with Kelce on the bus. But Willie Gay didn’t know that. And he absolutely loved it. In fact, that was his favorite Mahomes moment from the parade.

“He [Patrick] was so lit that day. He definitely had no clue what he was doing,” Gay told Andrew Siciliano of the NFL Network.

Mahomes went the Brady way and had his support too

Linebacker Willie also expressed his admiration for fellow linebacker Leo Chenal’s incredible athleticism. The video of Chenal climbing the roof of the Chiefs’ parade bus from the side, as casually as jumping a small fence, went viral. “That’s the freak right there,” Willie said.

However, Mahomes had run out of all athleticism and decided to plain old ‘Brady’ it.

Patrick followed in drunk Tom Brady’s steps from the Super Bowl LV celebrations. Besides, when TB12 saw Mahomes living it up at the parade, he found absolutely nothing wrong. “Looks like appropriate parade behaviour to me,” Tom tweeted to Mahomes.

The celebrations will carry on for a while before the preparations kick off for the 2023 season. And Patrick Mahomes wanted no regrets before going for another Lombardi next year.
