Kobe Bryant Once Heaped Praises for Colin Kaepernick for Standing Up Against the NFL

Colin Kaepernick hasn’t played in the NFL since 2017. He was the quarterback of the San Francisco 49ers. Notably, since his 49ers’ contract ended, he hasn’t been able to find a new team in the NFL.

However, recently he has made huge efforts to get a chance to return to the league. Surprisingly, no team is willing to gamble on him due to various factors. Many believe that Colin’s exit from the NFL was due to his efforts in standing up against the league.

Colin had started taking a knee during the national anthems before the start of NFL games. It was his effort to show his support for the black people. Unsurprisingly, his actions sparked controversy. As a result, no team has wanted to take a chance on him till now.

However, Colin inspired many people with his efforts. Notably, the late Koby Bryant was indeed left inspired by his effort to stand up for the people. Four years ago, during a video with ESPN, Koby talked about the impact of Colin Kaepernick.

During the video with ESPN, Koby Bryant was asked, “When you look across the landscape of the black athletes today, whose leadership impresses you the most?”

Kobe said, I think what Colin Kaepernick stood for is the epitome of doing what he believes is right, having the bravery to do that is something we should all stand for.”

He added, It’s very hard as a black athlete to just simply sit here and say, ‘You know what we’re comfortable, we made it, it is okay. We don’t need to jump into this thing. It’s too much controversy, we don’t need it.’ Is that the right thing to do? No, it is not.”

Kobe Bryant claimed that Colin’s efforts made people realize that this issue needed to be acted upon quickly. As a black athlete, his actions made people around the country realize the severity of the problem. As a result, since then many other black athletes have also been seen actively involved in working for the cause.
