“Most People Don’t Know That About Me”: Kyler Murray Talks About the Game That Prepared Him for NFL and It’s Not Baseball

Kyler Murray is one of the best young quarterbacks in the league. Since getting drafted in 2019, Kyler has cemented his place as the starting quarterback of the Arizona Cardinals. The Cardinals have also progressed massively since Kyler has taken over.
He played for Oklahoma Sooners during his college days. Surprisingly, Kyler Murray was a star in baseball as well. The Oakland Athletics drafted Kyler with the 9th overall pick in the 2018 MLB Draft. He became the first athlete to be drafted in the first rounds of two professional sports in America.
However, Kyler claims that another game prepared him for the NFL, and surprisingly, it was not Baseball.

Kyler Murray said, “I got into chess in the 4th grade, my Science teacher, he got me and a couple of other boys, as we were kind of the athletes of the school.”
Kyler added, “We kinda laughed at it first, ended up joining it, loving it, and being super competitive. I ended up being the 4th and 5th grade Chess Champion. Most people don’t know that about me, and I feel it’s a cool deal.”

During the video, Kyler Murray was asked, “How many of your teammates have you cooked in Chess?”, Kyler denied taking any names. However, he claimed that he was 2-0 against Larry Fitzgerald Jr. and has also beaten Zach Ertz.

Kyler, throughout his career, has always been claimed as ‘too little’ for the QB position. Primarily due to his height being just under 5’10. However, it is truly remarkable that he is a multi-sport athlete despite it. Whether it be Chess, Baseball, or Football, Kyler has excelled in every sport he has played.
Uncertainty continues to revolve around Kyler’s future
Despite his great talent, uncertainty has continued to grow related to his future in Arizona. After last season was over, Kyler removed everything that associated him with the Cardinals on his Instagram account.

There were persistent rumors about his exit from the team. Notably, the team hasn’t provided him with many weapons to make a run toward the Super Bowl.

However, things took a drastic turn yesterday, as Kyler went onto his Twitter account and dropped a bombshell. As seen in the tweet above, Kyler Murray says he wants to stay at the Cardinals and win a Super Bowl for them. This news has certainly made all the Cardinals fans happy, as they would like to see Kyler winning a Super Bowl for them.
