Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay was pleased with QB Matthew Stafford and his impact on the team. He does talk about how the franchise and he did view Stafford as an opportunity to do great things together. McVay believes that a player of Stafford’s quality is not someone that franchises find often and took that chance.

He was talking about how Stafford has elevated the level of every player and coach in the franchise. While talking about Stafford, he states, “If you don’t root for this guy, something’s wrong with you. He’s a great competitor, we’ve seen that really throughout the whole season, but I think it’s been on display these last couple of weeks. We talk about competitive greatness all the time, being your best when your best was required, he embodied competitive greatness today, love Matthew Stafford.”

It is some high praise coming from one of the top coaches in the NFL. He believes that the Rams QB is not afraid of the big moments despite the suspicions on him before the postseason. McVay knows that the job is not complete, and both he and Stafford are willing to go all the way to cap off their successful season.

Entering the 2021 NFL playoffs, the pressure was on Stafford following his poor performances in the postseason. During his 12 season-stint with the Detroit Lions, Stafford was 0-3, and it did play on his mind. But with McVay and his strong roster behind him, the QB has driven away any doubts about his abilities.

The player displayed leadership qualities in the important moments in some of the biggest games of their season. During the NFC Championship game on Sunday, Stafford pulled all the stops to erase the 10 point deficit against the San Francisco 49ers. He did end the game with an impressive 337 yards for 2 TDs while completing 31 of his 45 passes.
