History generally repeats itself, but NFL analysts and fans alike wish otherwise for the 39-year-old star quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The 2022 NFL season which saw him throwing his last pass for the Packers was arguably one of the worst years in his entire 18-year NFL career.
Two-time NLF MVP and Super Bowl Champion XXXIV Kurt Warner recently gave us a detailed lowdown on Rodgers’ performance expectations for the upcoming 2023 NFL season and highlighted the key differences he will be working with as part of a new team.
Kurt Warner Outlines the ‘Hardest Thing to Do’ for Aaron Rodgers

In a recent interview on The Rich Eisen Show NFL Network analyst Kurt Warner explained why Aaron Rodgers failed to perform his usual best and match up to expectations. He further provided a detailed walkthrough of what exactly is expected to work in Rodhers’ favor this year with the New York Jets.
“The hardest thing to do as a quarterback is to trust guys when they don’t give you a reason to trust them,” said Warner shedding considerable light on the difficulties faced by a seasoned quarterback like Rodgers when dealing with young receivers. This was one of the gravest concerns in the previous season which reflected badly not only on individual performance but cast a dark shadow on the Packers team at large.

Aaron Rodgers is one of the best quarterbacks the NFL has ever seen and the audience is accustomed to his high level of performance. It is only natural for celebrated players to be judged on the basis of their previous scores, and when it came to Rodgers- he did disappoint. Trusting other team players is crucial in a game of football and new receivers dropping balls and failing to acquire advantageous positions on time can cause quarterbacks like Rodgers to hold back. “They did not block me the last three times but I expect them to block me this time,” is a rationale that must have occurred to Rodgers.

“Aaron didn’t play very well” is what everyone derived based on his performance last year but it was because “Aaron struggled last year was trusting those guys” explained Warner. He continued to say, “ I fully believe Aaron Rodgers to be the Aaron Rodgers like we usually see him and not necessarily what we saw last year,” as he reassured that his faith in Rodgers’ exceptional capabilities has not yet been lost. With access to “old buddies,” or previous Packers teammates, aided with the new skillset of rookie runners and receivers, not only Rodgers, as expressed on the first episode of One Jets Drive, but everyone else is “excited and setting high expectations for the Jets.”
Aaron Rodgers’ “Struggle With the Details”
There were numerous reasons that catapulted into a disastrous year for the famed quarterback. Aaron Rodgers was arguably miserable with the Packers– his favorite coach and offensive coordinator moving to Denver with a head coaching opportunity, followed by his preferred wideout being traded to the Las Vegas Raiders, an impactful thumb injury, and a strained relationship with General Manager and the Head Coach. He was unable to perform his best as he was not able to trust the set of new players who he had relatively less training experience with.

Since “trust” was such a big issue with the gameplay the previous season, a few of Rodgers’ “old buddies,” have been drafted to the new Jets team. Previous Packers teammates Randall Cobb and Allen Lazard. Additionally, he had further access to Garrett Wilson, MeCole Hardman, Corey Davis, and Denzel Mims.
