The 2020 NFL season is almost four weeks old, and it’s safe to say that fans have been pleased with what they’ve seen so far. Despite the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the league has executed games as scheduled while keeping in mind social distancing rules and player safety. The likes of Lamar Jackson, Patrick Mahomes, Tom Brady, and others have all stepped up the ante in recent weeks despite a shortened offseason due to the COVID-19 struggles.

This year, quarterbacks across the NFL have shown that they’re not afraid to ‘take the road less traveled’. We’re talking about rushing threats, of course. Thursday night’s game saw New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold rush down the field after escaping the pocket to complete a 46-year rushing TD. That was just one of the many plays executed by quarterbacks across the league since September 11, 2020.

Will Kyler Murray outplay Lamar Jackson as the top rushing quarterback in 2020?

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray tops the list with most rushing yards at 187 and four rushing TDs. He is followed by Baltimore Ravens superstar, Lamar Jackson at number two who trails by five yards. As per Fantasy Football, Jackson is yet to register a rushing TD this season.

Meanwhile, New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton comes in at number three with 149 rushing yards and four TDs. New York Giants’ Daniel Jones (92), Seattle Seahawks’ Russell Wilson (90), Chicago Bears’ Mitchell Trubisky (87) and Buffalo Bills’ Josh Allen ( 84) occupy the next four spots on the list ahead of Week 4. Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is number eight on the list with 80 rushing yards and one rushing TD.

Murray has been fantastic for the Cardinals this year. However, his team slumped to a shock 23-26 loss to NFC North franchise Detroit Lions in Week Three. The former Heisman Trophy winner will have to be more consistent if he intends to dethrone Lamar Jackson as the league’s top rushing back in 2020.

Meanwhile, Jackson endured a miserable outing earlier this week. His side was thoroughly outplayed against Mahomes and the Chiefs as they lost by a 20-34 scoreline. The Ravens play Washington Football Team on Sunday. The 2019 NFL MVP will hope to bounce back from the previous setback with a commanding display at the FedEx Field.
