Lamar Jackson‘s career seems to be in a dicey situation. Ever since the Baltimore Ravens put their non-exclusive franchise tag on Jackson, teams have been pulling out of negotiations, left and right. The non-exclusive tag came in at just over $32 million for 2023 and gives Jackson the power to negotiate a long-term deal with other teams. And looks like Lamar Jackson is more than prepared to do exactly that. The 2019 unanimous MVP, is reportedly all set to move on from the Baltimore Ravens, but are his demands still the same?

Lamar Jackson is ready to budge

The Baltimore Ravens initially intended to offer Lamar Jackson a deal ranging from $160 million to $180 million, but Cleveland Browns has something to do with this. Back in March 2022, Deshaun Watson signed a five-year, $230-million fully guaranteed deal – the richest contract in NFL history. As lucrative as the deal might be for Watson, many around the league felt it disrupted the equilibrium of the QB market.

Lamar Jackson believes he deserves a deal in line with Watson, thus began the tussle with the Ravens. Eventually, the Ravens went with the drastic step of putting Jackon on their non-exclusive franchise tag, allowing him to test the free agency waters.

According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, Action Jackson is looking forward to enlisting with an NFL team other than the Baltimore Ravens. While his contract demands are still on the higher side, Jackson has decided to go with some leniency. As per reports, Jackson is willing to accept one or more non-guaranteed years on the back end of his contract, though the exact details have not been revealed.

Even if Lamar Jackson successfully harbors a new deal for himself, the power still remains with the Ravens, having the option to either match or reject the deal.

Collusion is a possibility?

As soon as the Ravens placed Jackson on their non-exclusive franchise tag, the average NFL fan expected offers to fly left and right. But what transpired left the NFL world scratching their heads.

Ideally, 26-year-old Lamar Jackson would be one of the top candidates for any team. Yet, somehow every team in need of a quarterback pulled away from the idea of acquiring Jackson.

Being the inquisitive world that is the NFL, several NFL Insiders and ex-players feel that Ravens might have something to do with it, with several others pointing fingers at NFL owners. However, fans are still waiting to see the next home for the QB.
