Former MVP and arguably one of the best young quarterbacks in the NFL right now, Lamar Jackson is currently going through a tough phase in his career. After the Ravens put a non-exclusive franchise tag on him, he’s yet to find any suitors. Earlier, many teams have publically pulled out from signing the 26-year-old quarterback, which garnered plenty of criticism from former NFL players, like JJ Watt and others. Moreover, there are plenty of franchises currently in need of a quarterback, particularly one AFC team who are searching for a Super Bowl for the last 16 years.

Although Jackson has not won a Super Bowl with the Ravens, he certainly helped the Baltimore team become more relevant in the league. Now, the lack of interest from other teams has raised plenty of eyebrows.

Can Lamar Jackson help this AFC team to win Super Bowl?

The Indianapolis Colts are currently searching for a quarterback and many fans and experts believe Jackson could solve their problem easily. Notably, the Colts last won a Super Bowl way back in 2007, when Peyton Manning was their QB. Since he left the team in 2011, the Colts have failed to reach a single Super Bowl to date.

The current head coach of the Colts, Shane Steichen, recently acquired 26-year-old QB, Gardner Minshew. Speaking about Minshew, the Colts HC said to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, Right now, obviously, he’s coming in to just compete and be the best he can be, you know, and that’s where we’re going… That’s where we feel he’s at right now and that’s his role right now.”

Interestingly, Steichen did not say anything about starting Minshew in the QB1 position, which could indicate that the Colts are possibly going for another QB. Some fans want to see Jackson in that QB1 position.

On the other hand, Steichen and Minshew had already worked with each other when they were with the Eagles together for 2 seasons. Yeah, Gardner’s awesome… You know, I got to spend the two years with him and Philly and just the way he sees the game and processes the game. It’s like a coach you know, he sees it really well. He was great,” Steichen further said about working with the young QB.

Do the Colts need a new QB?

On the other hand, the Colts have the No 4 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. If they pick a quarterback in the draft, the Colts will unlikely go for Jackson. Meanwhile, the Panthers and Texans have the No 1 and No 2 picks respectively in the draft; these two teams are also in need of a quarterback, which could change the plans for the Colts.

If the Indianapolis team doesn’t acquire a QB, Jackson’s chances of playing for the Colts in the 2023 season will certainly improve. Right now, the Ravens are keeping an eye on the market value of Jackson. If no team approaches, we will probably see Jackson play for the Baltimore team in the 2023 season.
