Lawyers of More Than 40 Commanders Executives Accuse NFL of Big Claims Involving Owner Daniel Snyder

Back in 2022, the NFL team Washington Commanders found themselves in an extremely complicated spot. The franchise was sued by the Washington D.C. attorney general, for perpetuating a “toxic work culture and abetting sexual misconduct”. In addition to charging the Washington Commanders owner Daniel Snyder, the attorney general also went on to include NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and the NFL as the other responsible parties.
All of the accused are being investigated for “colluding” to keep the franchise’s poor treatment of female employees under wraps. As multiple former employees of the Washington Commanders recounted in front of the congressional committee, Snyder had been sexually exploiting female employees for years and even had “soft porn” videos made of the team cheerleaders.

Lawyers Lisa Banks and Debra Katz are representing at least 40 former female employees. Both of these lawyers unanimously agree that the league is trying to protect Dan Snyder, not to mention the fact that the NFL commissioner and the NFL itself are also under investigation regarding the same.

One such instance can be found, when the NFL stepped in to help Dan Snyder put away a $55 million line of credit, something that was not properly documented or declared. Allegedly the loan was not approved by the team’s board of directors, leading to a scuffle between Snyder and his partners. But the NFL stepped in, putting the fight into a two-day mediation session, and somehow all disputes resolved themselves.

The lawyers vented out their frustration saying, “This week, not only have we seen additional damning evidence that Snyder likely engaged in illegal financial dealings and cheated other owners, but we are also reminded of the unfathomable lengths that Roger Goodell and the NFL have gone to protect him,”
Both Lisa Banks and Debra Katz are hopeful that despite all the attempts by the league and Snyder to evade responsibility for their actions and misconduct, the investigation spearheaded by Mary Jo White will expose the truth.

The investigation
Mary Jo White has been investigating the allegations of personal sexual misconduct by Snyder, and financial improprieties by the team. She is expected to be in the ‘final phase’ of her year-long investigation and is expected to turn in a report soon.
Some also believe that ‘the investigation’ is just a bid by the league to buy time for Snyder, enabling him to dispose of the team as soon as possible.

Despite these beliefs, Snyder and the league office will still have to deal with the federal investigation, something that is still giving hope to the plaintiffs.
