The Tennessee Titans have had a very hectic week. With the franchise selecting a top-tier quarterback prospect, and Ryan Tannehill speaking out about his divisional finals loss. There has, however, been a cherry-on-top problem. The Titans’ QB1’s attitude toward instructing their newest entrant sparked a flurry of heated conversation on social media. Moreover. this elicits a response from a Cowboys legend, who holds his service running for the incoming quarterback.

It’s never easy for starting quarterbacks to talk about fresher, sportier athletes behind them in the active roster, but Tannehill mentioned it during one press conference on Tuesday. He did text Willis after the selection to commend him, despite not knowing the Titans were looking for passers. Normally, a seasoned pro quarterback acts as a guide to the rookie quarterback, but Tannehill states that it’s just not his aim.

Shortly after being asked on guiding the 3rd-round selection of Malik Willis, Ryan Tannehill became a social media firestorm. His comment sparks a conversation that everyone had about the same time, year after year.

He told the media, “I don’t think it’s my job to mentor [Malik Willis]. If he learns from me along the way, that’s a good thing.”

Following Tannehill’s instigation, Hall of Fame quarterback Kurt Warner was one of the most outspoken, asking why star players wouldn’t provide counsel and guidance to junior colleagues in the comparable predicament on Twitter. Warner has offered his skills as a mentor to budding quarterbacks seeking to break into the next intensity of competition.

He mentions, “I will never understand the “I’m not here to mentor the next guy” mentality… so for all you young QBs that need a mentor, DM me & I’ll be that guy, happy to help in any way I can!”

Certain people may support Tannehill. Some will join Warner in nodding. It’d be fascinating to learn what position the Titans’ executives seem to be in.

Was Ryan Tannehill fair to react that way?

Many NFL quarterbacks carry a heavy strain on their shoulders. Many newcomers anticipate their seniors to guide them. Willis is an intriguing proposition who has the tendency to advance into a leader, and the Titans did not make a mistake in selecting him.

Although Tannehill’s statements may come across as antagonistic to a few, it seems doubtful that the QB1 will refuse to assist the youngster. Tannehill is expected to be an excellent teammate for Willis. He simply refuses to teach him. That is a job that the Titans will employ somebody else to do.
