LeSean ‘Shady’ McCoy Recalls Time He Snubbed Tom Brady In Practice: “When I Tell You To Do Something, You Do It. I’m Not Telling You To Do Something I Won’t Do”

Tom Brady is a 7-time Super Bowl champion and there is a reason why he is an American sports icon. One of the latest NFL players to support the fact is former Buccaneers teammate and Super Bowl winner LeSean McCoy. McCoy was part of Brady’s team who were dominant during their Super Bowl-winning run during the 2020 season.

‘Shady’ McCoy has been a very vocal teammate of Brady in recent times about his elite mentality, drive, and competitiveness. He makes an appearance on the Rich Eisen Show to discuss Brady and the Buccaneers’ chances this season. During their conversation, McCoy did recount one of his learning experiences with Brady.

The Buccaneers QB and McCoy were finishing up on a practice drill when Brady showed the desire for extending practice. McCoy recalls Brady wanting to run more routes with him. McCoy conceded that he was having a bad day and showed his disapproval of the idea.

The 44-year-old QB was less than happy about McCoy’s unwillingness to do more drills with him. While recalling his conversation with Brady, Shady states, “When I tell you to do something, you do it. I’m not telling you to do something I won’t do.” The moment according to Shady McCoy was a huge learning moment for him and something that he went on to apply in his game.

McCoy was in awe of his veteran QB’s willingness at age 44 to run WR routes. The workaholic attitude shown by Brady was something that did inspire Shady McCoy. The elite mentality to continue to play and win football games and his insatiable thirst for success is uncanny. Many athletes at Brady’s age usually retire or start to decline physically and their performance outputs drop.

But Brady has only gone and been a player doing the exact opposite. The 2021 campaign is one of Brady’s best career seasons as he did manage to throw 43 TD passes for 5,316 yards. No other NFL QB has managed to throw 40+ TD passes this season. The achievements at his age only are further evidence of the greatness and winning drive of the Buccaneers QB Tom Brady.
