In the New England Patriots versus the Baltimore Ravens, the Pats’ starting quarterback, Mac Jones, suffered a gruesome injury. New England faced defeat by a score of 37-26. Many believed that he sustained a high ankle sprain on his left ankle. However, recent developments tell what the team feared the most.

While Jones attempted the last pass with 1:55 remaining in the fourth quarter, the defensive lineman of the Baltimore Ravens, Calais Campbell, hit him. The 307-pound Campbell landed on the 24-year-old as he left his feet.

After Jones’ balance broke, which bent his left leg, Campbell smashed on the lower part. The shot-caller, immediately, grabbed his ankle in pain. He mustered the strength to stand up, only to off the field to the sidelines. Medical personnel surrounded him. He entered straight into the tunnel, and then to the locker room.

Patriots coach, Bill Belichick, did not have any immediate updates about the injury. But when asked about the possibility of Jones joining the injured reserve list, the coach explained he would not highly speculate and wait for further information.

The injured QB was scheduled to get an MRI on Monday. New England feared the possibility of suffering tendon and/or ligament damage. However, Rick Stroud gave an update that fans may not like.

If Jones missed further games, the backup Brian Hoyer will take over as the starting QB. Before the recent injury, it was reported Jones experienced pain in his back after the Week 1 loss against the Miami Dolphins. Because of that, he could not attend the post-game press conference.

Mac Jones’ mediocre performance against the Ravens

The Ravens are 2-1 in the season. They dominate the New England Patriots, even though the Pats put up a hard fight throughout the game. Mac Jones looked confused about the offense during the game and threw questionable shots. And now that he’s injured, the team’s offense will take one more hit. However, the defense played their best, but not enough to stop Lamar Jackson in all four quarters.

Jones’s final stat line stands at 22 off of 32 for 302 yards, no touchdowns, and three interceptions. In addition, he added five rushes for 31 yards and a score. After this unfortunate incident, New England Patriots surely have one more thing to worry about. Do you think Jones’ performance was up to the mark?
