Henry Cavill has been stirring speculation online. The actor recently announced that he would not be returning to his role as DC’s ‘Superman’. Since the new Superman installment will focus on his younger years, the change in direction of the character’s narrative has squashed hopes of Cavill making a return. Despite his small cameo in DC’s Black Adam, the actor will no longer be returning to the screens as the superhero. Fans would be surprised to know that the Hollywood heartthrob became a part of the NFL world because of a link to his iconic character.

Although he is no longer a part of the DC Universe, Cavill will always be the internet’s favorite ‘Superman’. The actor has grown quite fond of his character and has embraced some of Superman’s traits. Cavill, who first graced screens as Superman in ‘Man of Steel’, has been playing the role for quite a while now. It’s not odd that he has grown fond of the iconic superhero. Superman hasn’t influenced Cavill’s wardrobe or eating habits or anything mundane. Instead, the character impacted the actor’s decision of picking a favorite football team. So who does Cavill support?

Henry Cavill does what Superman would’ve done if he was a football fan

First things first, it is indeed surprising to see a British actor become a fan of American football. But after the surprises that Cavill has been dropping with regard to the roles he has taken (or should we say given up) up, at this point, nothing comes as a surprise. The actor was once featured on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ where he briefly elaborated on his loyalty to the sport.

Since Cavill was spending a lot of time in America for work, he was drawn in by the sport and soon became a fan. The actor’s thought process behind the selection of his favorite team is as wholesome as it gets. Since his character Clark Kent aka Superman was from Kansas in the comics and movies, the actor picked the Kansas City Chiefs. He said, “I am a Chiefs fan”. His reasoning is quite amusing. Since Cavill, obviously, does not have a home team, this is as close as he can get to having one.

Cavill also described the electric atmosphere and theatrics in the sport that left him flabbergasted. The awe-struck actor spoke about his experience in a stadium and compared it to the rugby games he’s been to, which paled in comparison. There’s a reason why many in the NFL world gravitate toward the Chiefs. Apart from having a young, dynamic, and versatile QB they also have a loyal fanbase backing them up. Henry Cavill’s sole experience at Arrowhead Stadium is something he will never forget. Chiefs Nation will anticipate more reasons to celebrate as the end of the regular season draws near.
