The Rams put QB Matthew Stafford on the injured reserve list before the first snap of the game against the Seahawks. What was initially thought to be a concussion turned out to be a spinal cord contusion. The issue in his spinal cord is causing the numbness in his legs, NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported before the game.

The news means that Stafford will miss at least four games. But with just five games to go, this might well be the end of the season for him. The reigning Super Bowl champions certainly wouldn’t want to risk bringing him in again before he is totally healthy.

Injuries have plagued the Rams‘ season and their title defense never really took off. Apart from the others, Stafford has been in the concussion protocol twice. He has also been dealing with an elbow issue.

An unsuccessful title defense?

Due to injuries, Stafford has managed to start just nine games before going into the injured reserve list. The reigning Super Bowl champions have an overall record of 3-9 this season and are last on the NFC West divisional table. There are five more games to go before the regular season ends.
