Matthew Stafford’s Fate Decided Before He Took a Snap Against Seattle Seahawks- Injury Update

The Los Angeles Rams certainly missed their starting QB Matthew Stafford in the clash against the Seattle Seahawks. The Rams went down fighting, but their backup QB John Wolford threw two interceptions to complicate the matter. LA had decided Stafford’s fate even before the first snap of the game. And it is not good news for the fans of the team.

The reigning Super Bowl champions are almost out of the playoff race. And the Stafford news just adds to the misery they are already going through.

Matthew Stafford injury update 

The Rams put QB Matthew Stafford on the injured reserve list before the first snap of the game against the Seahawks. What was initially thought to be a concussion turned out to be a spinal cord contusion. The issue in his spinal cord is causing the numbness in his legs, NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported before the game.

The news means that Stafford will miss at least four games. But with just five games to go, this might well be the end of the season for him. The reigning Super Bowl champions certainly wouldn’t want to risk bringing him in again before he is totally healthy.

Injuries have plagued the Rams‘ season and their title defense never really took off. Apart from the others, Stafford has been in the concussion protocol twice. He has also been dealing with an elbow issue.

An unsuccessful title defense?

With so many injuries and a depleted squad, the Rams never really stood a chance to defend the Vince Lombardi trophy. The loss to the Seahawks was their ninth loss this season, virtually ending their playoff hopes.

Their QB Matthew Stafford failed to impress this season with just a paltry 2,087 yards of passing. He has also thrown just 10 touchdown passes this season with eight interceptions also to his name. The team that went all the way last season plummeted to the bottom five in the league in terms of touchdowns and passing yardage this time around.

Due to injuries, Stafford has managed to start just nine games before going into the injured reserve list. The reigning Super Bowl champions have an overall record of 3-9 this season and are last on the NFC West divisional table. There are five more games to go before the regular season ends. Can his backup QB John Wolford take them to a respectable final tally at the end of the regular season? What does the future hold for Matthew Stafford?
