The Bills announced on Twitter that John Murphy had a stroke last weekend and is recovering at his residence. The commentator is making progress each day and is getting better. The statement also mentioned, “John and the Murphy family are grateful for the excellent care by the staff and doctors at Buffalo General Medical Center. We appreciate everyone’s support.”

In a subsequent tweet, the Bills confirmed that, in the meantime, Chris Brown will proceed to do the play-by-play work on the Bills Radio Network. Before the Monday Night game, the franchise announced Murphy’s absence, saying he was ‘under the weather.’ That game got suspended after Damar Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest during the play.
