The 2022 NFL season has been tough on Zach Wilson. The New York Jets’ QB faced severe criticism since the season began. Head coach Mike Saleh even benched him in favor of backup Mike White. But he got his chance against the Detroit Lions in Week 15. He went and grabbed it with both his hands. Wilson returned as the Jets starting QB in Week 15 after White suffered a rib injury in the Week 14 loss to the Buffalo Bills.

Struggles so far for Zach Wilson

The 40-yard bullet notwithstanding, the season has been quite underwhelming for Zach Wilson. He hasn’t shown the level of consistency required from an NFL QB, resulting in widespread criticism coming his way. And only an injury to White has given him his starting spot back.

Coming into Week 15, Wilson had thrown just 105 completions in eight games he has played. He threw just four touchdown passes before the Lions clash. But five of his throws resulted in interceptions. Although the Jets have lost just two games with Wilson as a starter, the young QB has failed to post any significant stats to back his claim to remain on the team.

The Jets remain in contention for the playoffs, but their remaining few games hold great significance for that quest. Will the Jets make it to the playoffs?
