Derek Carr’s relationship with the Raiders and their coach Josh McDaniels soured quickly after a promising start. When McDaniels took over as the Raiders’ head coach last year, he immediately showed his faith in Carr by signing him to a three-year contract extension. However, as the season progressed, it became clear that the coach and the quarterback were not on the same page. The Raiders decided to cut ties with Carr and look for a better long-term solution at quarterback.

But Derek’s fate yet has brightness & leadership has not gone unnoticed by his new coach and a prominent TV sportscaster. HC Dennis Allen complimented Carr for his positive impact on the team and expressed his confidence in their potential. One of the most vocal supporters of Derek Carr joining the New Orleans Saints is Adam Schein, a famous TV sportscaster. He recently predicted that Carr would have an outstanding season and praised his leadership abilities. He said, “I think Derek Carr is a perfect fit in New Orleans, gonna be a monster season for the Saints.” He went on to list the weapons that Carr will have at his disposal, such as Michael Thomas, Chris Olave, Alvin Kamara, and Jamaal Williams.

Schein exclaimed, “Derek Carr is a born leader, Derek Carr is a great player, Derek Carr is going to maximize Michael Thomas and Chris Olave and Alvin Kamara and Jamaal Williams.” The only thing that Schein is worried about is the coaching ability of the Saints’ head coach Dennis Allen. He admitted, “My only concern [is] Dennis Allen. I don’t know if Dennis Allen can coach, but I know the defense is going to be great. Carr’s leadership is going to be fantastic.”

Carr finds his way to his old coach

Derek Carr’s tenure with the Raiders was full of highs and lows. He set franchise records for passing yards and touchdowns, but he also failed to win a playoff game in eight seasons. The Raiders finally parted ways with him this offseason, hoping to save money and find a better fit for coach Josh McDaniels. Carr had the power to veto any trade offers, thanks to his no-trade clause, and he did just that when the Saints came calling, but fate had other plans for him.

After being released by the Raiders, Carr became a free agent and against his old decision agreed to sign a lucrative deal with the Saints, reuniting him with his former coach Dennis Allen. The Saints welcomed him as their new quarterback on March 11, 2023, praising his leadership and Pro Bowl skills. Carr now has a chance to prove himself in a new environment and lead the Saints back to the playoffs.
