Many in the NFL world regard Tom Brady as the GOAT. He has accomplishments to his name that most players can just dream of. Many young fans consider Brady the epitome of sporting success. Youngsters regard him as their hero given his unparalleled commitment, work ethic and exceptional skills. Fans would also consider him a hero because of his status as a legendary sporting icon.

However, when Brady was asked by a young fan about his hero, the GOAT had the most unexpected and touching answer. More importantly, his answer to the question made him choke up with emotions. What was Brady’s answer that made him choke up on television?

A video of Tom Brady from 2017 has surfaced on Twitter, where the Bucs’ QB answered questions on Super Bowl opening night. A kid reporter, Joseph Perez, asked Brady about his hero. Brady took a moment to appreciate the question before giving a straightforward reply.

The GOAT said, “Who’s my hero? It’s a great question. We’ll I think my dad is my hero cause he’s someone that I look up to every day and…uh… My dad.” Brady himself got extremely emotional as he said these words, showing how much his dad’s influence means to him as a person.

Brady’s response was touching, as it showed that he appreciated and acknowledged the role of his parents in making him into the star he was. The QB is one of the most decorated NFL players in the world but was humble enough to recognize his parents’, notably his father’s, influence in his life.

How do Tom Brady’s records stack up?

TB12 is one of the greatest QBs to have played the game. His tally of seven Super Bowls with two franchises is unlikely to be matched anytime soon, much less surpassed. Over his 22-year-long career, he also collected a host of other records and statistics, and has created many records.

Over his career, Brady started 316 of 318 games. He became the all-time leader in passing yards, touchdowns and quarterback wins. TB12 has been selected to the Pro Bowl a record 15 times and three times to the 1st-Team All-Pro. Brady is also a three time AP MVP. With his retirement still  a season away, he can add another Super Bowl to his tally and increase his other statistics this season.

However, it seems that however many records he creates, the GOAT would always appreciate his parents’ role has been in shaping him to be who he is.
