Aaron Rodgers isn’t the only absence from the Green Bay Packers locker room. After sitting out for the entire 2022 NFL season, the former University of Washington cornerback, Kevin King is set to miss another one of his prime years.

While misfortune has been following King ever since being drafted into the league, the former No. 33 pick in the second round of the ’17 NFL draft was dealt the worse possible hand. His injuries coupled with the loss of a dear one have extracted a horrific mental toll on the young phenom, but still, King continues fighting.

A tough year for Kevin King

The past year was spent by Kevin King rehabbing and hoping to return to the big stage. However, during his workouts, King experienced another major setback, tearing his Achilles. He earlier took to his YouTube channel to share the horrific news with his fans and well-wishers.

A few days later I’m training and running around, boom, I knew it. F—ing knew it. I took a step, pop, but nobody was behind me. F—ing tore my Achilles.” expressed King.

Additionally, King also lost his dear brother just a couple of days back, and the news has left the young man devastated beyond limits.

Two days ago my little bro passed away. I’m sitting there literally talking to myself like, nobody knows what’s going on, but I’m like damn there’s no way I can sit here. My little bro just lost his life.

King losing his brother has helped him put things into perspective, looking at struggles that he has to face head-on. But setbacks have been following King his entire NFL career, and the Packers’ CB is adamant about making a return.

In each of his first four years, Kevin King has had to undergo at least one pivotal surgery every single year. The offseasons were the most difficult for the young talent, as rehabbing became his second nature. Despite all of these injuries, King is extremely appreciative of his time with the Green Bay Packers but his mental health was at an all-time low.

The injuries pushed King deep into a tussle with his inner demons, as he took the 2022 season to recalibrate and find his footing again. Right when it felt like King was close to his end goal, misfortune struck again. With another injury and the loss of his younger brother, King is once again backed into a corner, but judging from his inspirational message, the young phenom is bound to make a return.
