Former San Francisco 49ers star QB Colin Kaepernick played his last season in 2016. Kaepernick was among the first NFL players who took a knee during the national anthems before the games to protest against social injustice. The Niners released him in 2016, and no other team took him in, and to date, he remains a free agent.

A year back in 2016, Kaepernick stood against police brutality and social injustice and became the talk of the nation. Still, Kap did not make it to the SI cover, and the Golden State Warriors star noted it.

Warriors star player Steph Curry and head coach Steve Kerr took a stand for Colin Kaepernick

It surprised Stephen Curry that they removed Kaepernick from the cover. The basketball star expressed his feeling after the Warriors’ practice match. Curry said“That was terrible. It’s just kind of capitalizing on the hoopla and the media and all that nonsense. The real people that understand exactly what’s been going on, and who’s been active and vocal and truly making a difference, if you don’t have Kaepernick front and center on that, something’s wrong.”

The Warriors’ head coach, Steve Kerr, was also on the SI cover and had the almost same reaction. Carr said, “I looked it and went, ‘Where the hell is Kap?’ If the article is about activism in sports, how is Kaepernick not on the cover? I just don’t understand how you can omit the guy who basically began this movement.”
